About Mehnaz I.
Mehnaz I. Khan combines a scientific background and a legal education. She earned an M.S. in Physics from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, and later attended The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, where she received her J.D. in 2011. Those studies bookend a transition from science into law that informs how she approaches complex cases.
Her legal career began before law school in practical roles. In 2003 she worked at Russell W. Ray, PLLC as a litigation lawyer and senior paralegal. That early experience exposed her to courtroom procedures and case management. After completing her J.D., she continued building courtroom skills and professional contacts in Virginia.
Khan is an active member of the Virginia legal community. She holds membership in the Virginia State Bar and has been a member of the Fairfax County Bar Association since 2011. She also belonged to the American Institute of Family Law Lawyers from 2019 to 2020. Her admissions include the Virginia bar as well as the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, which allows her to handle matters in both state and federal forums.
In 2016 she founded Mehnaz Khan Law, PLLC and launched her own practice. The following year she took a partner role at Kublan Khan PLC, reflecting a period of both entrepreneurial and collaborative work. At her own firm she oversees case strategy, client communication and litigation tasks. Past positions and firm leadership roles have kept her engaged in courtroom work and in managing the practical side of legal practice.
Her practice addresses litigation across Virginia and in federal courts. She has handled matters in the Eastern District of Virginia and in bankruptcy proceedings there. Colleagues and clients see her as methodical in preparing cases and attentive to procedural detail. Today she practices from Mehnaz Khan Law, PLLC, focusing on litigation in state and federal courts and on matters that include bankruptcy and family-related disputes.
