About Megan

Megan Meekins received her law degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007 after completing a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, in 2003. She trained in two different academic environments. One emphasized public institutions and statewide legal systems, the other a mix of liberal arts and language study. The combination shaped an approach that balances analytical work with attention to client communication.

Her early legal work took her into legal advocacy. In 2010 she served as a staff lawyer at Just Help: Elkhart County Legal Advocacy Center, where she handled day-to-day client matters and intake work. A few years later she moved into private practice as an associate lawyer at Gosnell Law Office in 2013. Those roles placed her on both sides of the client table: representing individuals through advocacy programs and performing associate-level responsibilities in a law office.

She is licensed to practice in both Texas and Indiana. That dual admission reflects her professional path through the Midwest and later to Texas. It gives her the ability to accept matters arising in either state when jurisdictional rules permit. Maintaining licenses in two states requires attention to differing court procedures and continuing legal education requirements.

Meekins has been active in local bar organizations at various stages of her career. She held memberships in the Elkhart County Bar Association and the Goshen Bar Association from 2010 to 2012. Since 2013 she has been a member of the Hays County Bar Association and remains involved there. Those memberships connect her to county-level practice realities and to other lawyers handling routine and complex matters alike.

Across her positions, her duties have included client counseling, case preparation and court appearances. She has moved between nonprofit advocacy work and private firm practice, developing practical courtroom experience alongside client-facing services. Colleagues describe her as steady and practical in the courtroom and deliberative in advice, using her language skills and regional experience to help clients understand options.

As of 2026 she practices primarily in Texas and continues to participate in county bar activities while representing clients in the jurisdictions where she is licensed.
