About Amanda
Amanda Erwin built her legal foundation at St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she earned a J.D. in 2006 and trained in trial advocacy. Her time in law school gave her early exposure to courtroom procedure and the practical side of litigation. She left law school prepared for work that required clear thinking under pressure.
Her career moved quickly into public service. In 2007 she held dual roles at the Caldwell County District Attorney’s Office: head of the Crimes Against Women and Children unit and head of the Appellate Division. Those assignments put her in charge of sensitive prosecutions and the task of handling appeals. She managed teams, prepared appellate briefs, and argued before higher courts. The work demanded attention to detail and an ability to present complex facts plainly to judges and juries.
Erwin’s membership record shows steady involvement in the local and state legal community. She has been a member of the Hays County Bar Association since 2011 and remains active there. Since 2011 she also belongs to the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Earlier in her career, from 2007 to 2011, she was a member of the Texas County and District Attorneys Association, reflecting her time in prosecution.
Those varied memberships mirror a career that has crossed the line between prosecution and defense. The prosecutorial years gave her courtroom experience and appellate practice. Later work included defense-side associations and private practice responsibilities. The mix of roles has shaped how she approaches case strategy and client communication.
Today she leads The Erwin Law Office. In private practice she handles criminal matters that range from local district court cases to appeals. Her background in prosecuting crimes involving women and children informs how she evaluates evidence and prepares cases. She also draws on appellate experience when advising clients about potential outcomes and legal risks.
Colleagues and former clients describe her approach as direct and procedural. She favors careful preparation over courtroom spectacle. That preference is evident in the way she prepares pleadings and oral arguments, and in how she guides clients through each stage of a case. She remains active in local bar activities and professional groups, maintaining ties to the legal community that shaped her early career.
She currently practices at The Erwin Law Office, handling criminal defense and appellate matters in Texas.
