About Matthew

Matthew Wurdeman earned his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law in 2015. He completed his legal education in Seattle and moved into practice in Washington state. The early years after law school gave him opportunities to work on a variety of matters and to remain connected to the university community that shaped his training.

He remains involved in institutional and public-service work. He holds a current board membership with the Foundation of Washington State Courts. He also serves on the University of Washington Moot Court Honor Board Alumni Advisory Board, maintaining ties to the law school’s advocacy programs. Those roles place him in a position to observe how court systems and legal education intersect with practitioners’ daily work.

Alongside his board service, Wurdeman provides pro bono representation through the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project. He volunteers as counsel for detained asylum seekers, taking cases that involve complex procedural and humanitarian issues. That work has him frequently in detention settings and in federal and state court proceedings, addressing questions that go beyond paperwork to affect people’s lives directly.

His office affiliation is listed as Connelly Law Offices. At that firm he handles client matters arising under Washington law and represents individuals in settings that require both courtroom work and careful case preparation. Colleagues describe him as someone who balances courtroom advocacy and client-facing responsibilities. His contributions at the firm include case drafting, litigation strategy, and supporting clients through contested proceedings.

Wurdeman’s background in moot court and his board involvement reflect an ongoing interest in the mechanics of appellate argument and the institutions that sustain the courts. He brings that institutional perspective to daily practice. He also maintains an active role in community legal assistance through his work with immigrant-rights organizations.

He is admitted to practice in Washington and maintains professional memberships that connect him to both the bar and local legal institutions. He continues to split his time between firm work and pro bono cases, representing detained asylum seekers and handling other matters rooted in Washington law.

His current practice is based at Connelly Law Offices, where he represents clients in litigation and provides pro bono immigration representation to detained asylum seekers.
