About Nicholas Cole
Nicholas Cole Douglas built an academic base that is broad as well as sequential. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Willamette University, then stayed on at Willamette for an MBA. He completed his legal training at Seattle University School of Law. That combination of social science, business study and legal education informs how he approaches complex disputes.
After law school Douglas won admission in Washington and to several federal courts. His credentials include admission to the state bar of Washington, the Ninth Circuit and both the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington. Those admissions allow him to handle matters in trial and appellate settings across the region.
Douglas’s path into law was not strictly linear. His undergraduate and graduate work in psychology and business gives him familiarity with human dynamics and organizational pressures. He applies that background to case assessment, discovery strategy and witness preparation. He also understands the financial and operational considerations that often underlie commercial and employment disputes.
He is a current member of the Washington State Association for Justice. That association places him among litigators who practice in civil courts across the state. Membership offers regular continuing education and access to professional networks, which Douglas uses to stay current on procedural and evidentiary developments.
Douglas practices at Cochran Douglas, PLLC, where he participates in litigation in Washington’s courts and in federal court. His courtroom admissions — state, district and circuit — shape the matters he accepts. He works on cases that proceed in trial courts and sometimes continue on appeal. Colleagues describe his approach as methodical. He prioritizes documents, deposition work and the mechanics of presenting a case to judges and juries.
In client work Douglas combines analytical tools from his MBA with an interest in how individuals and organizations make decisions under pressure. That combination informs settlement analysis as well as preparation for trial. He handles litigation that reaches federal and state forums in Washington, and he continues to maintain active practice at Cochran Douglas, PLLC, handling matters in both state and federal courts.
