About Matthew
Matthew McKenna earned his law degree from Roger Williams University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2019. He left Providence with formal training in legal research, brief writing and courtroom procedure. Those fundamentals shaped the early years of his practice.
After law school he joined The Law Office of Lawyer Nick Yousif in 2019. He worked as a lawyer there and handled a range of client matters during his time with the firm. The post-graduate period gave him steady courtroom exposure and a chance to manage casework from intake through resolution.
In 2023 McKenna moved to Shield Law. He is listed as a lawyer in the firm’s offices and spends time in its multiple locations. The change coincided with a broader geographic scope to his practice and added collaborative work alongside other attorneys at the firm.
McKenna is licensed to practice in Wisconsin, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He maintains memberships in the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Bar Association and the Waukesha County Bar Association. He also holds membership in the Rhode Island Bar Association. Those connections reflect a practice that crosses state lines and engages with professional communities in several jurisdictions.
Colleagues describe his work ethic as steady and thorough. He draws on trial and written-advocacy skills developed early in his career and applies them to client matters in courts and administrative forums. He pays attention to procedural detail and to the practical needs of clients who must navigate different state systems.
McKenna’s career path has followed a steady arc: a New England law school, early solo- and small-firm experience, and then a transition to a multi-office firm where he continues to build a regional practice. The move to Shield Law expanded the geographic reach of his work and introduced new collaborative responsibilities.
He remains active in local bar groups and in the professional networks that support practice across Wisconsin and Rhode Island. He currently practices at Shield Law, concentrating on legal matters arising in Wisconsin, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
