About Matthew Joseph
Matthew Joseph Hamilton built a foundation in both law and business before entering practice. He earned a J.D. from the University of Missouri–Kansas City. Earlier, he completed an MBA in marketing at the University of Missouri–Columbia in 1994 and a B.S. in logistics there in 1991. Those degrees shaped a practical approach to legal work and client service.
He began practicing law in the mid-1990s and has been associated with Hamilton & Associates, P.C. since 1995. That long tenure has given him continuity in handling client matters and navigating the procedural demands of state and federal courts. Colleagues describe him as steady under pressure and adept at managing complex case files over time.
Hamilton is admitted to practice in multiple jurisdictions. He holds admissions in Missouri and Kansas, and he is also admitted to the Eighth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court, allowing him to take appellate matters beyond trial work. Those credentials indicate an ability to pursue cases through higher courts when necessary.
He has been active in bar and trial lawyer organizations since the 1990s. He joined the Missouri Association of Trial Lawyers in 1995 and has maintained a leadership membership there. He has served as Cass County Coordinator for the Missouri Association of Trial Lawyers and for the American Association for Justice, roles he has held since the mid-1990s. He is also a long-standing member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. These involvements keep him connected to local and national developments in litigation practice.
Throughout his career Hamilton’s work has intersected with trial and appellate processes. His organizational roles and admissions suggest regular engagement with contested litigation and the procedural work that accompanies trials and appeals. He handles filings, motions and courtroom preparation, alongside the strategic decisions that determine whether a case settles or proceeds to a verdict or appeal.
At Hamilton & Associates, P.C., he continues to represent clients in state and federal matters. He divides his practice between litigation in Missouri and Kansas and work that reaches federal appellate courts. He currently handles civil litigation across those jurisdictions, including appellate work in the Eighth Circuit and filings allowable before the U.S. Supreme Court.
