About Matthew A.
Matthew A. Bell earned a B.A. in psychology and philosophy from the University of Houston in 2005 and returned to the same campus to complete his J.D. in 2010. He moved into practice soon after law school. The academic training gave him both analytical tools and a grounding in human behavior.
He began his post-graduate legal work at Kennedy & Jackson in 2011. A year later he operated under his own name, practicing as Matthew A. Bell, Lawyer at Law. In 2016 he joined Open Legal Services as a staff lawyer, gaining experience in client intake and public-facing legal assistance. The next step in his career came in 2018 when he worked with Marx Family Law and Intermountain Legal, P.C., roles that placed him squarely in family law practice.
Bell is admitted to practice in Texas and Utah. He holds current membership in the State Bar of Utah and has been listed with the Utah State Bar Family Law Section since 2018. That association and his work history reflect a steady involvement in family law issues and the professional networks that support that work.
Across his various positions he handled matters common to family courts: dissolution of marriage, custody and visitation disputes, support calculations and property matters. He also served clients in contexts where legal aid and community-oriented services mattered, during his time at a legal services organization. His career shows a mix of private practice and service-oriented roles, giving him exposure to different client needs and court procedures.
In 2023 Bell established Bonneville Legal, PC and now runs that firm as its owner. He manages casework, client consultations and the day-to-day operations of the practice. His caseload continues to reflect family law work and related courtroom and negotiation matters. His current practice centers on family law and related matters.
