About M. David

M. David Steffensen graduated from the University of Utah in 2017 and earned his J.D. from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School in 2020. He completed a traditional law school timeline, moving from undergraduate study to a three-year legal education before entering practice. Those credentials placed him among a cohort of recent graduates who went on to work in the Utah legal community.

During his time at BYU, Steffensen completed the work required for his law degree and left with the J.D. in hand in 2020. The record shows a straightforward academic progression: a bachelor’s degree in 2017 followed by law school graduation three years later. That path brought him back to Utah’s legal scene at a moment when courts and offices were adapting to new demands.

After law school, Steffensen established himself in Utah. He is admitted to practice in the state and has handled matters at the state level. His work has involved regular interaction with court procedures and filings common to state practice. He has represented clients before Utah tribunals and worked on cases that required attention to both procedural detail and local rules.

Steffensen’s experience is rooted in state practice. He has handled filings, client counseling, and courtroom appearances. Those tasks form the backbone of a state-level practice and reflect the everyday demands lawyers face in Utah’s courts. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing filings and attentive in client meetings. He has built a practice that operates within Utah’s legal framework and responds to the issues that arise there.

Outside of court appearances, Steffensen’s background includes research and written advocacy developed during law school and applied in his professional work. His training at BYU’s law school provided a foundation in legal analysis and drafting. He has applied that training to the matters he brings before judges and administrative decision-makers across the state.

Steffensen continues to practice law in Utah. He maintains an active presence in the state’s legal community and accepts work that engages with Utah state courts and administrative processes. His current practice focuses on legal matters in Utah state courts and before administrative agencies.
