About Matt
Matt Wadsworth is an attorney admitted to the Utah bar and the Tenth Circuit. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Utah in 2005 and received his J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2008. Those academic credentials set the stage for a steady rise through private practice.
After law school he joined Lundberg & Associates as an associate in 2008. A year later he became a partner at Arnold & Wadsworth, and in 2015 he took on the partner role at Arnold, Wadsworth & Coggins. The dates mark a quick transition from junior associate work to a leadership position in a firm environment.
Wadsworth maintains active admission in Utah and before the 10th Circuit. He is a member of the Utah Bar Association since 2008 and the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2012. He also holds membership in the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. Those affiliations reflect the areas of court practice that occupy much of his docket: criminal defense and family law.
In court he handles contested hearings, evidentiary disputes and plea negotiations. He has experience in trial-level matters and has also appeared on appellate matters permitted by his federal admission. His practice involves both litigation and courtroom advocacy, and he regularly deals with procedural and substantive issues that arise in criminal and family proceedings.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation and direct in courtroom presentation. He participates in professional groups that address criminal defense practice and family-court issues, which provides ongoing exposure to developments in those fields. That involvement also allows him to stay current on procedural shifts and case law that affect clients in state and federal forums.
Today he is a partner at Arnold, Wadsworth & Coggins. He represents clients in Utah courts and in proceedings before the 10th Circuit, handling criminal defense and family law matters as part of his current practice focus.
