About Masoud
Masoud Jahani built two professional lives that intersect at sea and in the courtroom. He trained first as a mariner and later turned to law, earning degrees that reflect both paths: a B.Tech Higher National Diploma in Nautical Science from Strathclyde University, an LL.B. from the University of London (LL.B., 2005) and a Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law (J.D., 2014).
Jahani’s early career began on commercial vessels. Records show he served as a nautical officer and later as a ship’s master for shipping companies beginning in the 1980s. That hands-on experience at sea preceded formal maritime certifications. He holds Master Mariner credentials issued by Transport Canada Marine Safety and Security and by the Marine Safety Agency in the United Kingdom. Those qualifications mark a long period of operational work aboard ships and command responsibility.
After returning to formal legal study he completed his law degree in the United Kingdom and then obtained a J.D. in California. He is admitted to practice in California and is listed as a lawyer at the California State Bar. In 2017 he established his own practice, operating as Jahani Law PC. The move brought together his maritime background and legal training into a single practice setting.
Colleagues and public records portray Jahani as someone who blends technical maritime knowledge with courtroom experience. His dual qualifications allow him to address issues that require understanding of ship operations, safety standards and applicable maritime regulations, alongside civil litigation or transactional work that arises from those issues. His career path is uncommon: few lawyers who practice in California can point to a prior career as a master mariner and to Master Mariner certifications from two national authorities.
He continues to practice from Jahani Law PC and maintains professional ties to maritime and legal communities. His current practice focuses on maritime and admiralty matters, drawing on both his seafaring years and his legal training.
