About Mark

Mark Zafrin built a career at the intersection of corporate law and health care matters. He began his academic path at St. John’s University, where he read history and philosophy and earned a B.A. He went on to study at the London School of Economics and completed his legal education at New York University School of Law, receiving a J.D.

His early practice included founding Zafrin, PC, where he became a partner in 1981. That firm provided a platform for transactional work and corporate counseling in the years that followed. In 2001 he moved to Abrams, Fensterman and took on the role of Chair of the Corporate and Transactions Department. He remained active in transactional practice and department management, overseeing deals and internal processes that touched on corporate governance and regulatory concerns.

In 2010 he joined Michelman & Robinson, LLP as a partner. His professional registrations include admission in New York and New Jersey and the ability to appear before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits. He also maintains membership in the American Health Lawyers Association, which aligns with the health care aspects of his transactional work.

Colleagues describe his approach as methodical. He breaks complex deals into discrete issues and addresses regulatory puzzles one step at a time. His background combines state-level practice and federal appellate access. That combination has informed how he handles corporate contracts, mergers, and regulatory compliance matters, particularly those that touch on the health care industry and its unique legal framework.

Across three decades of practice he has shifted between boutique and larger firm environments. He has led a corporate transactions department, run a smaller firm, and served as partner in a multi-practice firm. Those moves reflect experience in both hands-on deal work and the administrative side of running a practice.

He currently practices at Michelman & Robinson, LLP, where he handles corporate and transactional matters and represents clients on issues that intersect with health care regulation.
