About Mark S.
Mark S. Cherry built a foundation in accounting before turning to law. He earned a B.B.A. in accounting and finance from Temple University in 1979, completed MBA coursework at Temple’s Beasley School of Law in 1980, and received a J.D. from Widener University Delaware School of Law in 1986. The combination of accounting and law has shaped the practical contours of his work ever since.
He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and he holds credentials that allow appearances before the Third Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the Internal Revenue Service. Those admissions signal a readiness to take matters beyond state courts when cases require federal review or tax tribunal intervention.
Cherry launched his solo practice in 1986 and has operated under the name Mark S Cherry, Lawyer at Law, PC. He has maintained a solo practitioner’s docket while also affiliating with professional organizations, including membership in AAA-CPA as a sole practitioner since 1999. Running a small office has allowed him to combine courtroom appearances, administrative hearings, mediation sessions, and detailed financial analysis.
His professional certifications reflect that blend of finance and dispute resolution. He is a Certified Public Accountant through the New Jersey Society of CPAs and a Certified Valuation Analyst with the National Association of CVAs. He holds civil and family law mediator credentials from the Seton Hall Institute of Dispute Resolution and the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators, and he is trained as a Forensic Mortgage Loan Auditor. Those qualifications support work on tax controversies, valuation disputes, family law matters with financial complexities, and mortgage-related audits.
Over the years he has represented clients before tax authorities and in civil matters that require forensic review of loans and financial statements. He has moved between negotiation in mediation and formal advocacy in administrative or judicial settings, depending on what a case calls for. His background in accounting informs how he examines records, prepares valuation opinions, and presents financial evidence in hearings.
Today he practices at Mark S Cherry, Lawyer at Law, PC. His ongoing work centers on tax matters, financial valuation issues, mediation in family and civil disputes, and forensic mortgage loan auditing.
