Mark Riera is a partner in the Litigation Group at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP (JMBM), a full-service law firm based in Los Angeles, California. He has been practicing law for over 40 years, focusing on complex civil litigation matters. Throughout his career, Riera has been involved in various stages of litigation, including hearings, appeals, negotiations, and trials. Notably, he represented the Securities Investor Protection Corporation in a landmark securities fraud and RICO action in the District Court, Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He also defended a major oil company against the threatened taking of its deep-water port terminal essential for unloading supertankers.
Riera has been recognized for his professional achievements, being named a Southern California Super Lawyer from 2007 to 2009. He has served as vice chair of the California State Bar Antitrust and Unfair Competition Section and was an executive committee member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Antitrust Section. Additionally, he is a member of the American Bar Association's Committee on Diversity and Inclusion and was a member of the Private Antitrust Litigation Committee. Riera is admitted to practice in the State of California. His license is currently active. He is also admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of California, the U.S.
