About Mark B.

Mark B. Williams studied history and the liberal arts as an undergraduate at the University of Mary Washington. He went on to earn his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 1990. Those academic years set the stage for a long career practicing law in Virginia.

He is admitted to practice in Virginia and is a member of the Virginia State Bar. Over the years he has joined professional organizations tied to trial and criminal defense work, including the Virginia College of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Locally, he holds membership in the Fauquier County Bar Association and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.

Williams’ professional life centers on courtroom practice. He has handled defense matters at various levels of the state court system and regularly prepares cases for trial. His memberships in criminal defense organizations reflect that orientation. Colleagues describe him as steady in court and exacting in trial preparation, traits that show up in how he manages discovery, motions, and witness work.

Clients meet him at Mark B. Williams & Associates, PLC, where he staffs and oversees casework. The firm handles criminal defense matters and related litigation in Virginia. Williams spends much of his time in hearings and trials, and he also works on pretrial strategy and plea negotiation when those paths are appropriate.

Beyond practicing law, Williams participates in professional circles where trial and defense attorneys exchange practical insights and case law developments. He has maintained memberships in the same professional groups for years and attends local bar events and continuing legal education sessions that address trial practice and criminal procedure.

He trained for law in the Washington-area legal world and then built a practice that stays focused on litigation in Virginia courts. He continues to accept and handle criminal defense matters and to represent clients through trial and related proceedings. He currently focuses his practice on criminal defense in Virginia.
