About Vishrut B
Vishrut B Shelat earned his Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School in 2020 after beginning the program in 2017. His law school years coincided with a period of rapid change in legal technology and litigation strategy, and his early career choices reflect those shifts. He left Vermont Law with courtroom experience aspirations and a curiosity about how research and data intersect with advocacy.
He began his professional career as a law clerk in the Trial Division and Civil Services Division of the Washington D.C. Public Defender Service in 2020. That placement put him in front of trial teams and exposed him to case preparation under pressure. In 2021 he moved into the legal information sector as a legal research analyst for Thomson Reuters, where he worked on substantive research projects and contributed to materials used by practicing lawyers.
In 2022 he took on a series of short-term and contract roles that broadened his litigation toolkit. He worked as an artificial intelligence litigation analyst for Wolters Kluwer, examining issues at the intersection of emerging technologies and civil procedure. He also served as a litigation review lawyer for a defense matter listed as Kumar v. BAPS through Robert Half, and that assignment involved document review and case assessment for trial readiness. Later that year he handled real estate litigation matters as a contract lawyer, taking on contested property and landlord-tenant disputes.
In 2023 he established TheBajLawGroup PLLC and assumed the role of senior partner and founder. The move formalized his shift from short-term engagements to running a small law practice. He holds certificates of admission in good standing for the District of Columbia District Court and for the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. These credentials allow him to appear in federal and appellate settings in the District of Columbia.
Shelat’s professional profile blends trial experience, legal research know-how and an interest in how technology affects litigation. He has handled public defense matters, document and litigation review, and contested real estate cases. He now runs TheBajLawGroup PLLC and focuses his practice on litigation matters, including real estate disputes and trial-level defense work.
