Mark A. Irwin is a family law attorney based in Newport Beach. He combines an undergraduate background in communications from the University of Southern California with a law degree earned at Western State College of Law at Argosy University in 2005. He entered the legal profession after a varied early career that included work outside the courtroom and roles in local public safety education.
Before earning his law degree, Irwin served as an auditor for the POST Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute. That early involvement in training and oversight led him to community work on issues tied to family safety. He later served on the steering committee of the Orange County Family Violence Council in 2004, a role that informed his approach to family law matters and community-based responses to domestic violence.
After law school, Irwin engaged with professional and civic organizations. He joined the Orange County Bar Association and the American Bar Association in 2005. He took on a leadership role at the OCFJC Foundation, Inc., serving as vice‑president in 2006 and later joining the foundation’s Executive Advisory Committee in 2009. Irwin’s private-practice experience developed over the next decade. He worked as an associate family law lawyer at Wishart & Garland in 2010. That move established him as part of a small firm concentrating on dissolution, custody, and related family matters.
His bar and professional memberships are notable for their consistency. He has belonged to the Orange County Bar Association’s Family Law Section since 2010, and he maintains broader ties through the Orange County Bar Association and the American Bar Association, both since 2005. Those affiliations reflect a practice shaped by local court rules and by national developments in family law practice.
Today he practices from the Newport Beach office of Irwin & Irwin, LLP. His work covers divorce proceedings, custody and visitation disputes, support issues, and other family law matters that arise in Orange County courts. He balances courtroom representation with mediation and negotiated settlements, handling each case according to its facts and the needs of the clients served.
