Marianne G. Sorensen is a shareholder at Kirton McConkie, a law firm based in St. George, Utah. She specializes in business and real estate law, representing both national and local clients. Her practice includes negotiating and drafting site acquisition and sale contracts, development agreements, loan documents, leases. Easements for various properties such as retail stores, apartment buildings, shopping centers, golf courses, hotels, grocery stores, retail distribution centers, and educational facilities. In addition to her real estate work, Ms. Sorensen handles general corporate and transactional matters. She has significant experience advising direct selling companies on policies, procedures, contracts, consulting agreements, and compliance.
She has also assisted in incorporating several nonprofit organizations and obtaining their tax-exempt status from the IRS. Ms. Sorensen earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 1982. She served on the Executive Committee of the Real Property Section of the Utah State Bar for three years. She has been active in the American Bar Association's Real Property, Trusts, and Estates Section, serving as Vice Chair of the Ground Leasing Committee.
She is a founding member and inaugural president of CREW Utah, the state chapter of the Commercial Real Estate Women Network. She served a three-year term on the board of directors of the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Sorensen has been recognized for her professional achievements. She was named one of Utah Business magazine’s “30 Women to Watch” in 2008. She was honored by the Utah Business Women organization as a “Woman of Achievement” for Excellence in the Professions. She was a finalist in the 2013 Utah CCIM Business Excellence program for “Real Estate Attorney of the Year.” She was named to the Utah Legal Elite in Real Estate in 2021. Beyond her legal career, Ms.
Sorensen has been involved in community and civic activities. She served in the 142nd Military Intelligence Battalion of the Utah Army National Guard from 1983 to 2001, including a deployment to Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm as an Arabic-speaking interrogator.
