About Maria E.
Maria E. Castagliuolo built a courtroom practice from steady steps and varied experience. She combines classroom training in trial advocacy with years in public defense, municipal law and private practice. Her path runs through several jurisdictions and a series of roles that put her in court frequently.
Castagliuolo earned a BA in English, with a creative writing concentration, from the University of South Florida in 2004. She received her JD from Florida State University College of Law in 2008. Later she returned to study trial technique, completing an LL.M. in Trial Advocacy at Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2017.
Her early work was in public defense. In 2010 she joined the Office of the Public Defender for the 13th Judicial Circuit as an assistant public defender, where she handled criminal cases and gained trial experience. She moved into private practice in 2016 as an associate at McCormick & Priore, P.A., then into municipal work in 2018 when she served as Deputy City Solicitor in the City of Philadelphia Law Department. In 2021 she opened her own practice as owner and trial lawyer at Maria E. Castagliuolo, P.A.
The mix of jobs shows a lawyer comfortable on multiple sides of the courtroom. Her background includes years defending individuals accused of crimes, representing a municipal client on legal and litigation matters, and conducting jury trials. She is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, Florida and Pennsylvania, and she holds memberships in the Pennsylvania State Bar, the New Jersey State Bar, the New York State Bar, the Federal Bar Association and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Colleagues and clients see her as a practitioner who values courtroom preparation. She has supplemented early courtroom learning with advanced trial training and continues to draw on that experience in contested matters. She runs a small firm that handles trial litigation across jurisdictional lines. She now practices trial litigation and client representation in state and federal courts in New York, New Jersey, Florida and Pennsylvania.
