About Managan L
Managan L Johnson built a legal path that crosses continents and courthouse doors. She began her studies at Wellesley College, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts. That early academic foundation was followed by legal studies at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where she earned her J.D. Johnson also spent time studying law at the Universita di Bologna, Facolta di Giurisprudenza, adding an international dimension to her education.
After law school, Johnson established herself in the Mid-Atlantic. She is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. In 2010 she opened her own practice, founding Johnson Law. Running a small firm demanded attention to both casework and the practical tasks of firm management. Over the years she handled the work of a solo practitioner and the responsibilities that come with leading a practice.
Johnson’s caseload centers on family law. She has represented clients in divorce, child custody, support matters, and related post-judgment disputes. Her practice involves courtroom hearings, negotiated settlements, and the drafting of agreements. Cases often require parsing financial disclosures, preparing parenting plans, or arguing custody arrangements before a judge. She balances courtroom advocacy with efforts to find settlements when those align with a client’s goals.
Courtroom time and negotiation are only part of the work. Johnson spends hours preparing pleadings, advising clients on procedural choices, and coordinating with experts such as financial analysts or child specialists when cases demand it. Her training includes both common-law practice in the U.S. and exposure to European legal education, which she has said helped shape how she approaches legal problems and client counseling.
Professional connections run through local and state bar groups. Johnson maintains memberships in the Maryland State Bar Association, the Anne Arundel County Bar Association, and the Montgomery County Bar Association. Those affiliations provide continuing legal education, networking, and forums for staying current on changes in family law.
Clients who come to Johnson Law encounter a small-firm environment where the founder remains involved in day-to-day matters. The office handles a range of family law matters and moves cases through litigation or settlement paths as required. Johnson continues to practice family law at Johnson Law.
