About Louis A
Louis A Russo builds his legal career on steady progression through major firms and classrooms. He earned a J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2007 and holds a B.A. in political science, with a minor in biology, from Villanova University, awarded in 2002. Those academic credentials preceded a sequence of roles at national firms and a return to his alma mater as an instructor.
He began his professional practice in the mid-2000s at Proskauer Rose, listed as an associate in 2006. Over the next decade he moved through several large law firms, serving as an associate at Seyfarth Shaw in 2010 and at Winston & Strawn in 2011. He spent time as counsel at Alston & Bird in 2013, and later joined Goldberg Segalla as a partner handling complex commercial litigation in 2016. That path brought him to launch his own firm in 2019, where he serves as founder and managing partner.
Russo has also bridged practice and teaching. In 2018 he took on an adjunct professor role at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. The course work and time in clinic settings gave him a direct line to younger lawyers and to evolving classroom debates about litigation strategy and trial practice.
He is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey and the District of Columbia, and is authorized to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. His professional affiliations include membership in the State Bar of New York and participation in the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators membership committee. Those connections reflect sustained work across state and federal forums, and interest in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
Colleagues and clients have encountered him in business litigation, where he has handled a range of complex commercial disputes. His experience runs from early-career associate work to partnership-level responsibility for case strategy and trial preparation. The shift to firm founder in 2019 marked a move into practice management as well as continued trial and appellate work.
He maintains an office under the Russo Law LLC name and continues to accept matters that involve commercial litigation, appellate proceedings and arbitration. His current practice focuses on commercial litigation, appellate advocacy and arbitration matters.
