About Lisa
Lisa Bowie came to the law after studying the natural world. She earned a B.S. in Wildlife Conservation and Biology from the University of Rhode Island in 2004 and a J.D. from Roger Williams University in 2009. Her academic background gives her an unusual route into the practice of law. It also shaped how she approaches problems: methodical, evidence-driven, and attentive to detail.
Her early legal work began in and around 2010. That year she worked as a summer associate at Freehill, Hogan and Mahar and served as a law clerk for the Law Office of David Oliviera. Those positions exposed her to courtroom preparation, client contact and the day-to-day mechanics of legal practice. They also bridged her transition from law school into private practice.
Bowie is admitted to practice in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. She has experience handling matters that require appearances in both state and federal venues. Colleagues describe her as thorough in preparing briefs and hearings, and steady in court. She has worked on cases that demanded both written advocacy and in-person presentation.
Her path keeps a practical rhythm. She blends research skills cultivated in college and law school with hands-on courtroom experience from her clerkships and early associate work. That combination informs how she manages files and advises clients. She favors clear lines of communication and an organized approach to evidence and deadlines.
Bowie practices at Whaley Bowie & Bagley. At the firm she conducts litigation and represents clients in proceedings across Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Her work includes appellate filings in the First Circuit when a case moves beyond trial court. She maintains office responsibilities while taking cases that require travel between the region’s courts.
Outside the office Bowie’s academic background in biology remains part of her personal history, and it shows in the way she thinks about complex factual records. She brings that same attention to detail to legal matters. She currently practices at Whaley Bowie & Bagley, handling matters across Rhode Island and Massachusetts and appearing before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
