About Lindsey
Lindsey Obenhaus built an interest in history and human stories at Vanderbilt University, where she earned a B.A. in 2008. She went on to SMU Dedman School of Law, taking her J.D. in 2011. Those years shaped her approach to legal work: careful reading, attention to context and an eye for practical solutions.
After law school she began practicing in Texas. Over time she concentrated her practice on family law and pursued board certification, earning recognition from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as Board Certified in Family Law. That credential reflects specialized training and tested knowledge in state family law questions.
Her courtroom work sits alongside other methods of resolving disputes. She is a member of the Dallas Bar Association’s Collaborative Law Section and the Family Law Section. Memberships in the American Bar Association Family Law Section and the Texas Bar Association Family Law Section keep her connected to prevailing practice and legislative changes. She is also part of the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists and the Texas Family Law Foundation.
Colleagues describe her as steady under pressure. She has handled contested divorces, custody disputes and property division matters. She also engages in negotiated resolutions and collaborative processes where parties prefer to reach agreement outside a trial. The board certification signals command of substantive family law, procedure and evidence relevant to the work.
Her professional involvement extends beyond casework. She holds membership in the Annette Stewart American Inn of Court and the College of the State Bar of Texas. She took part in the Dallas Area Young Lawyers Leadership Class in 2017 and was involved with the Dallas Bar Association’s Women Empowered to Lead program in 2020. She chairs the Hockaday School for Girls Alumnae Legal Society and serves on the board of Jonathans Place. She is also involved with Genesis Womens Shelter Young Leaders.
Obenhaus practices at Goranson Bain Ausley in Texas, where she balances litigation, negotiation and collaborative practice. She participates in local and state bar activities and serves on nonprofit boards while continuing to handle family law matters in Dallas and across the state. Her current practice centers on family law matters including contested proceedings, custody arrangements and negotiated settlements.
