About Lillian J.
Lillian J. LaRosa earned her law degree from American University Washington College of Law in 1981. During her time there she studied administrative law, a background that informed her early approach to practice. She completed her legal education at a time when the legal landscape in Massachusetts and federal courts was changing, and she entered private practice soon after graduating.
She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Over the years she has paired courtroom work with roles that require careful evaluation and negotiation. In 2000 she became a partner at LaRosa/Toland Law Office, a position she continues to hold. That partnership has anchored her practice and shaped her daily workload.
At LaRosa/Toland Law Office she handles matters that arise in probate and family settings as well as related civil disputes. Her practice mixes contested hearings and negotiated resolutions. She represents clients at different stages of disputes and appears in hearings when matters cannot be resolved informally.
She holds certification as a guardian ad litem in Probate and Family Court. In that capacity she has been appointed to assess the interests of children and report factual findings to judges. She also serves as an ADR conciliator through the Middlesex County Bar Association. Those roles require impartial fact-finding, an ability to manage sensitive interviews, and skill in clarifying options for parties facing difficult choices.
LaRosa has been active in professional organizations for more than two decades. She is a member of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers and the Middlesex County Bar Association, memberships she has maintained since 2000. Through those groups she has stayed connected to developments in trial practice and local court procedures. Her work in ADR and as a guardian ad litem keeps her engaged with both the procedural and human dimensions of the courts she appears in.
Colleagues describe her as steady in hearings and exacting in preparation. She balances litigation tasks with efforts to find negotiated outcomes when possible. She continues to practice at LaRosa/Toland Law Office, handling probate and family court matters, dispute resolution work, and related civil cases.
