About Leslee Champion

Leslee Champion Hungerford built her path from a psychology undergraduate degree to law in a way that shaped the work she does today. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Auburn University in 2009, then went on to Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, where she received her J.D. in 2013. Those academic choices set up an interest in cases that involve children and families.

After law school she began practicing in Georgia. She is admitted in Georgia and also authorized to appear before the Federal Circuit. Her credentials include certifications as a Guardian ad Litem through the Georgia State Bar and the Cobb County Bar Association, credentials that reflect a role many attorneys take on in custody and child welfare proceedings.

Her professional profile shows steady local involvement. She has been a member of the Cobb County Bar Association since 2013 and maintained membership in county bar activities over the years. She also participated in Leadership Cobb during 2015–2016, a program that brings together leaders from the region for training and community engagement.

Courtroom work and appointed responsibilities as a Guardian ad Litem have made up a significant portion of her docket. Serving as a GAL often means interviewing children, preparing reports for the court, and making recommendations about placement and services. Those tasks require an ability to translate clinical and social concerns into clear legal arguments and factual narratives the court can use.

Colleagues describe her approach as practical and case-centered. She focuses on assembling the records and advocacy necessary to make decisions easier for judges and less disruptive for children. That practical style also shows up in how she manages procedural requirements and deadlines in complex family and juvenile matters.

Outside the courtroom she has stayed active in county bar functions and local leadership programs. The combination of a psychology background and GAL certification informs how she evaluates cases and interacts with families, social workers, and other professionals involved in child-focused litigation.

She continues to practice in Georgia and before the Federal Circuit, carrying out Guardian ad Litem duties and representing clients in matters that touch on family law and child welfare. Her current practice concentrates on cases involving child welfare, custody, and related proceedings.
