About Leonard D.
Leonard D. Harden trained in two countries before he began practicing in New Hampshire. He earned a B.A. from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, in 1986 and completed his J.D. at the University of New Hampshire School of Law in 1993. Those academic years set the course for a career centered on criminal cases and forensic issues.
He entered private practice the year he finished law school, joining the Law Office of Thomas A. Rappa, Jr. as an associate in 1993. Four years later he moved into a leadership role as managing lawyer at Twomey & Sisti. In 2003 he opened his own firm, Harden Law, and has operated as a sole practitioner since then. The shift to solo practice allowed him to control the direction of his caseload and the services he offers clients across northern New Hampshire.
Harden's work emphasizes criminal defense and impaired-driving cases. He holds a number of technical certifications tied to that work: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration credentials in Field Sobriety Testing and as an Instructor in Field Sobriety Testing; certification as a Breath Test Operator from Industrial Training & Design; and training on the Intoxilyzer 8000 through MD Marketing. Those credentials inform how he evaluates roadside procedures, breath testing protocols, and forensic reports.
His affiliations reflect that intersection of law and forensics. He is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National College of DUI Defense, the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the New Hampshire Bar Association. He also holds membership in the Coos County and Grafton County bar associations. Locally, he serves on the board of directors of the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Colleagues and opposing counsel encounter Harden across a spread of rural courthouses. He maintains offices in Lebanon, Littleton and Lancaster, which allows him to take cases throughout the region. His practice draws on courtroom experience, technical training in sobriety and breath testing, and ongoing engagement with professional groups concerned with forensic science and criminal defense.
He currently practices at Harden Law and concentrates on criminal defense and DUI matters from offices in Lebanon, Littleton and Lancaster.
