About Laura D.
Laura D. Hogue earned her law degree from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 1991 after completing undergraduate work at Columbus College. The law school years set the groundwork for a courtroom career that has spanned three decades. She returned to central Georgia to build a practice rooted in litigation and appellate work.
Early in her career she secured admission to practice in state and federal courts. She is admitted to the Supreme Court of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Her federal admissions include the United States District Courts for the Middle and Northern Districts of Georgia, and she is also admitted to the United States Supreme Court. She maintains active membership in the Georgia State Bar.
Hogue is a partner at Hogue Griffin, where she has handled trials and appeals for a range of criminal matters. Her work at the firm has included courtroom representation at both the trial and appellate levels. Colleagues describe her approach as thorough and methodical, with attention to procedural detail and appellate strategy.
She has taken on leadership roles across the local and state bar. She serves as chairperson of the Lawyer Grievance Committee for the Middle District of Georgia, a position that involves oversight of professional conduct matters in the federal district. She was a founding member of the William Augustus Bootle Inn of Court. In Macon, she sits on the Macon Bar Association’s advisory committee and remains active in local bar programming.
Hogue’s involvement in criminal defense organizations spans elected and appointed positions. She is a past president of the Macon Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. At the state level she served as regional vice president for the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and chaired that group’s amicus committee. Those roles reflect sustained participation in shaping defense practice and in coordinating appellate and amicus efforts across Georgia.
Her career balances casework and institutional service. She has handled trials, pursued appeals, and contributed to bar governance and professional discipline processes. That combination keeps her engaged with both courtroom practice and the broader questions of ethics and procedure that affect litigators.
She currently practices criminal defense and appellate work at Hogue Griffin.
