About Laura C.
Laura C. Pyne earned degrees in both law and taxation after building an early foundation in accounting and finance. She holds a J.D. (2008) and an LL.M. in Taxation (2009) from the University of Florida. Earlier she completed dual B.S. degrees in Finance and Accounting at the University of Central Florida in 1985. Those credentials shaped a career that crosses public accounting, corporate finance and the practice of law.
She began her professional life in public accounting as a tax and audit associate at PwC in 1985. Two years later she moved to KPMG, where she served as a tax manager. Those years in public accounting established technical knowledge of tax rules and financial reporting. They also led to a Certified Public Accountant credential in Illinois, which she maintains.
In the 1990s Pyne moved into corporate roles. She joined JMB Realty Corporation in 1991 as vice president of portfolio management. In 1994 she became chief financial officer at Apollo Derivatives Group. By 1997 she was vice president of corporate business development for mergers and acquisitions at Bell & Howell. Those positions placed her at the intersection of dealmaking, corporate finance and operational oversight.
After a stint in corporate America, she launched Collins Pyne Consulting in 2001, offering advisory services to businesses. In 2010 she became a shareholder at Pyne Law Group, P.A., where she combined legal training and financial experience. She is licensed to practice in Florida and has been a member of the American Bar Association since 2009.
Her professional affiliations reflect both sides of her background. She has belonged to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 1985. Since 2014 she has held a regional vice president role in the American Academy of Lawyer-CPAs. Those memberships sit alongside continuing work as a lawyer advising clients on tax and corporate matters.
The arc of Pyne’s career — public accounting, corporate finance, consulting and private practice — informs how she approaches client issues. Her legal work draws on an LL.M. in taxation and decades of financial and transactional experience. She currently practices at Pyne Law Group, P.A., handling tax and corporate matters for businesses and individuals.
