About Larry
Larry Crain is an attorney based in Brentwood, Tennessee, with over four decades of experience in civil rights, personal injury, and legal malpractice. He has been a member of the Tennessee State Bar since 1980, the Virginia State Bar since 1986, and the District of Columbia Bar since 1991. Crain earned his Juris Doctor from the Nashville School of Law in 1980, following a Bachelor of Science from Vanderbilt University in 1976. His extensive educational background laid the foundation for a distinguished legal career. In 2011, Crain became the managing partner at Crain Law Group, PLLC, located at 5214 Maryland Way, Suite 402, Brentwood, TN 37027. The firm focuses on litigation in federal and state courts, representing plaintiffs in a variety of cases, including civil rights, employment, contract disputes, and personal injury claims.
Under his leadership, the firm has built a strong reputation for advocating on behalf of clients facing significant legal challenges. Before establishing his firm, Crain served as Senior Litigation Counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice from 1997 to 2012. In this role, he oversaw litigation involving religious liberty and constitutional cases on a national level, contributing to significant legal precedents. Prior to that, he was General Counsel for The Rutherford Institute from 1986 to 1996, where he handled a range of constitutional issues related to religious liberty and civil rights. His experiences in these positions have gave him a understanding of the complexities surrounding civil rights law. Crain began his legal career as an associate at Barrett, Kniffin, Blackburn & Ray, P.C.
from 1981 to 1983, and later at Butler, Lackey, Holt & Snedeker, P.C. from 1983 to 1985, both in Nashville, Tennessee. These early roles provided him with valuable insights into the practice of law, particularly in the areas of litigation and client advocacy. His commitment to legal excellence has been recognized through various accolades, particularly for his contributions to constitutional law and civil rights. In addition to his practice, Crain is a frequent lecturer on constitutional law and religious liberty. He has taught at the University of Strasbourg in France and served as an adjunct professor at Moody Graduate School in Chicago.
Crain is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and various U.S. Courts of Appeal, including the Sixth, Fifth, Third, Second, Fourth, and Eleventh Circuits. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Middle, Eastern, and Western Districts of Tennessee, and the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia.
