About Joy
Joy Day came to law after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and earning her J.D. from Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Her education bridged southern and midwestern perspectives and set the stage for a career across multiple state lines. Law school classmates recall a steady approach to classroom debate and an interest in trial procedure.
Her legal career has been centered at The Law Offices of John Day, P.C., where she serves as a lawyer. Over the years she has built practice experience in courts across Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky and Michigan. Those multi-state admissions have allowed her to handle matters that cross jurisdictional lines and to appear in a variety of trial and hearing settings.
Day holds a Civil Trial Specialist certification from the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification. She is also listed as a General Civil Mediator under Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31. Those credentials reflect an emphasis on contested civil matters and on resolving disputes through mediation when appropriate. Colleagues describe her approach in the courtroom as methodical; at the mediation table she tends to be pragmatic.
Her involvement in the legal community extends beyond casework. She maintains memberships in the Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee bar associations. Locally she participates in the Nashville Bar Association and the Williamson County Bar Association. She is a founding member of Belmont University’s American Inn of Court and also belongs to the John Marshall American Inn of Court. Outside the membership rolls, she contributes time to the Content Review Board for the Tennessee Judiciary Museum.
That mix of trial credentials, mediator status and bar association activity has shaped a practice that moves between litigation and dispute resolution. Her Civil Trial Specialist designation signals courtroom experience; the Rule 31 listing allows her to accept referrals for mediated resolution. Clients who work with her encounter a lawyer who operates across several state bars and who understands the procedural differences that can affect a case.
Day continues to practice at The Law Offices of John Day, P.C. Her current practice centers on civil litigation and mediation matters.
