About Laila
Laila Raheen made an unusual transition from the sciences into the law. She began her academic path at the University of Toronto, earning a B.S. in Biological Anthropology in 2008. After a chemical analysis certificate from Ryerson University in 2010, she enrolled at the University of Richmond School of Law and received her J.D. in 2013.
While in law school she gained practical courtroom exposure. In 2012 she served as a summer clerk for the Honorable Melvin R. Hughes at the Richmond Circuit Court. The year before, in 2011, she worked as a summer intern at Kronzek & Cronkright PLLC. Those early experiences gave her direct contact with judges, filings and the day-to-day pace of litigation.
Raheen moved into private practice immediately after law school. In 2013 she worked as an associate at Raheen Law Group, P.C. She then held associate positions at JHS Family Law Group, P.L.C. in 2014 and at Glasser and Glasser, P.L.C. in 2015. That same year she took on a lead senior associate role at Livesay & Myers, P.C., where she handled a range of family law matters and casework.
In 2022 she opened Raheen Family Law, P.C., where she serves as principal lawyer. Raheen is admitted in multiple jurisdictions, including Virginia, the District of Columbia, Maryland, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the Fourth Circuit. She has been a member of the Virginia State Bar since 2013 and holds memberships in the Fairfax Bar Association, the Prince William Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Virginia Women’s Lawyer Association.
Her background in biological anthropology and chemical analysis informs a methodical approach to evidence and case preparation. In practice she works on divorce, custody and support proceedings, as well as related family court litigation. She has experience preparing pleadings, conducting discovery and appearing in hearings across state and federal venues listed among her admissions.
Colleagues describe her as deliberate and practical in court and at the negotiating table. She balances courtroom experience from her clerkship years with years of private-practice casework. Raheen continues to build her solo practice in Virginia while maintaining active memberships in several regional bar organizations.
Her current practice centers on family law matters at Raheen Family Law, P.C.
