Kristen Goodwin Alexander is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1999. Her license is currently in active status. Ms. Alexander is a partner at Goodwin & Alexander, a law firm located in Auburn, California. She has been practicing law for over 26 years, serving clients throughout Placer County and the surrounding areas in Northern California.
Ms. Alexander earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis, King Hall School of Law, where she graduated in 1998. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, Davis, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology of Law in 1993. During her time at UC Davis, she was recognized as the Chancellor's Outstanding Senior and served as a White House intern in 1993.
Ms. Alexander concentrates her practice exclusively on family law, specializing in complex financial cases. She represents clients in matters involving divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and property division. Her practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. She is also trained and certified in the collaborative divorce process and serves as a neutral mediator in family law disputes.
Throughout her career, Ms. Alexander has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Placer and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. She has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding her own firm, she worked as an associate at Weintraub Genshlea & Sproul and served as Deputy Counsel at the California Legislative Counsel.
Ms. Alexander is an active member of the Placer County Bar Association, having served as its President from 2018 to 2019. She is also a member of the Federal Eastern District of California. In addition, she is a certified Family Law Specialist by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. Alexander is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing her to serve the diverse communities of Placer County effectively.
