About Kristan
Kristan Peters-Hamlin studied science at Cornell University and law at The University of Texas School of Law, earning her J.D. in 1987. Her educational path combined an undergraduate grounding in analytical thinking with three years of legal training in Austin. Those years shaped an interest in litigation and federal practice that has informed her career.
She began practicing after law school and now serves as the managing partner of Peters Hamlin Law, LLC. In that role she oversees the firm’s litigation docket and handles courtroom work herself. Her resume of admissions spans state and federal courts. She is admitted to practice in Connecticut and is also admitted to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, the 4th Circuit and the D.C. Circuit. Her district court admissions include the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Her courtroom practice includes trial and appellate work. She takes cases into federal district court and pursues appeals when cases move to the circuit courts listed on her admissions. That mix has kept her involved in procedural and substantive questions that arise in civil litigation across jurisdictions.
Peters-Hamlin has active ties to several professional organizations. She is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Employment Law Committee and holds membership in the Fairfield County Bar Association. She participates in the Women’s Bar Association, serving on its New York Judicial Selection Committee, and is a member of the International Bar Association’s Discrimination and Gender Equality Committee. She is also affiliated with the Association for a Better New York. These roles place her in ongoing conversations about employment law, judicial selection, and gender equality in the profession.
Colleagues describe her as steady at the lectern and practical in the courtroom. Her past work spans case management, motion practice and appellate briefs. She handles matters that require detailed attention to court rules and strategic timing. She also mentors junior attorneys at her firm and engages in bar committee work that connects practice with policy.
She practices from Peters Hamlin Law, LLC and maintains an active litigation practice in Connecticut and federal courts. She currently focuses on employment and related federal litigation at Peters Hamlin Law, LLC.
