About Kevin J.
Kevin J. Kuhn earned his law degree from the University of Illinois - Chicago John Marshall Law School in 1992 after completing a bachelor’s degree in finance at Northern Illinois University in 1984. Those academic years set a foundation in law and finance that has shaped much of his later work. He returned often to the intersection of legal analysis and financial considerations throughout his career.
He entered practice soon after law school. In 1993 he joined Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP as an associate. Three years later he moved to Vedder Price P.C., where he became a shareholder and served as a practice area chair beginning in 1996. He later established the Kuhn Firm P.C., taking the role of president in 2011. His résumé also lists experience as a lawyer with Lee J. Rohn & Associates. More recently, in 2023, he held a position as Senior Professional Liability Coverage Expert with Sedgwick Claims Management Services, Inc.
Kuhn is admitted to practice in a range of federal and territorial courts. His admissions include the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Illinois, the Territorial Court of the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands federal courts. He is also admitted in Georgia and Illinois and to the Seventh Circuit. He maintains active memberships in several bar organizations, including the Illinois State Bar, the State Bar of Georgia, the Virgin Islands Bar Association, and the Savannah Bar Association.
Across those roles he has handled matters that relate to professional liability coverage and insurance issues. His time as a coverage expert and as a practice chair involved assessing policy language, advising on coverage disputes, and coordinating responses to claims. Colleagues and clients have engaged him on questions that require translating technical insurance concepts into litigation strategy and practical resolutions.
Today he heads the Kuhn Firm P.C., where he combines his earlier firm leadership and recent coverage work. He divides his time between matters in Illinois, Georgia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, reflecting the geographic breadth of his admissions and memberships. His current practice centers on professional liability coverage and related insurance matters.
