About Kerri

Kerri Smith trained in Maryland. She earned her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2012 after completing a B.A. at St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2009. Those years set the foundation for a practice rooted in state and federal procedure.

She began her legal career shortly after law school. In 2013 she joined Silverman Thompson as an associate. Early work included research, brief writing and courtroom preparation. Colleagues say she built experience handling both transactional paperwork and contested matters.

Smith is admitted in Maryland and before federal courts that serve the state. Her credentials include admission to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and to the U.S. Supreme Court. That mix of admissions reflects work that spans local regulatory issues and federal litigation.

Professional organizations have been part of her development. She holds memberships in the Bar Association of Baltimore City, the Maryland State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She is a Life Fellow of the Baltimore Bar Foundation. Her involvement extends into the development community through the Urban Land Institute and the DC|MD chapter of NAIOP, the commercial real estate development association. These affiliations suggest regular contact with land use and development stakeholders.

Her practice at Silverman Thompson has grown over more than a decade. She handles matters that involve property, development and associated disputes. In court she represents clients in Maryland and in federal forums where the firm appears. Her work often requires coordinating regulatory review, transactional documents and litigation strategy.

Outside the office she has remained connected to local legal institutions and the development sector. That connection informs how she approaches matters that touch zoning, real estate transactions and commercial disputes. She balances courtroom responsibilities with transactional and advisory work.

She continues to practice at Silverman Thompson, representing clients in Maryland and in federal court on commercial real estate, land use and related litigation matters.
