About Kera Murphy
Kera Murphy Reed began her legal path at St. John’s University, where she completed her undergraduate studies in 2007. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2010. Her education coincided with early practical work in a downtown litigation office. That experience shaped how she approaches client matters years later.
Her first position in a legal setting came while she was still in law school. In 2009 she worked as a legal assistant at Neil M. Parsoff & Associates, P.C., performing research and assisting with document preparation. Those tasks gave her a steady grounding in court procedures and client intake. After passing through that formative stage, she moved into a lawyer’s role.
In 2012 Reed joined Burner Law Group, P.C. as an associate attorney. She has maintained her association with the firm since then. The firm maintains an East Hampton office where she is regularly available to meet clients. Colleagues describe her as methodical in case preparation and practical in courtroom settings.
Reed’s bar membership is in New York. She has been active in local and state bar circles related to estate matters since shortly after law school. She holds membership on the Surrogates Court Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association, a role she has kept since 2010. She also belongs to the New York State Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates section, where she participates in continuing education and committee work. Those memberships inform her understanding of surrogate’s court procedures and the statutory framework that governs estates and trusts in New York.
Her practice centers on trusts and estates work, including probate, estate administration and drafting estate planning instruments. She handles filings in Surrogate’s Court and assists families with the administrative steps that follow a death. Clients seek her out for clear explanations of complex statutory timelines and for help assembling required documents.
Reed balances client-facing work with the procedural detail those matters demand. She spends much of her time preparing petitions, responding to court inquiries, and coordinating with financial and tax advisors. Her ongoing participation in professional committees keeps her current on changes in surrogate practice and trust and estate law.
She currently practices estate planning, probate and estate administration at Burner Law Group, P.C., operating out of the firm’s East Hampton office and serving clients across Suffolk County and the surrounding area.
