Kenneth Scott August is the founder and president of August Law Group, P.C., a full-service business law firm located in Irvine, California. Established in 2005, the firm specializes in corporate and commercial transactional legal services. It serves clients, ranging from large multinational corporations to small, closely held businesses. This breadth of experience allows the firm to address many legal needs, ensuring that each client receives tailored solutions. Mr. August began his legal career in Washington, D.C., with Lane & Edson, P.C. During his tenure there, he played a key role in representing WESRAY Corporation in various public and private financial transactions.
His foundational experiences in the nation’s capital gave him a robust understanding of complex financial and corporate matters. Following this, he joined Dow, Lohnes & Albertson, where he represented telecommunications companies, investment banking firms, and commercial banks in significant corporate and financial transactions. This exposure to high-stakes environments further developed his legal acumen. In 1990, Mr. August relocated to California to work with Graham & James. Here, he focused on handling securities, mergers and acquisitions, and other transactions for international clients. This role allowed him to deepen his expertise in corporate governance and cross-border transactions.
By 1992, he made a pivotal decision to leave large law firm practice, choosing instead to concentrate on representing entrepreneurial emerging and mid-sized corporate clients. Since then, he has participated as legal counsel in transactions totaling over $2.5 billion, showcasing his ability to navigate complex legal fields effectively. His areas of expertise include corporate governance, securities, mergers and acquisitions, licensing, joint ventures, and cross-border transactions. In addition to his practice, Mr. August has contributed to legal education as an adjunct professor at Whittier Law School, where he taught corporations and securities law. He also served at the University of California, Irvine Graduate School of Management, covering general legal issues that impact business professionals.
