About Keith
Keith Edmiston built a steady career in Tennessee law that balances courtroom practice, regulatory work and legal education. He earned a B.A. in English from East Tennessee State University in 1994 and a J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1996. Those credentials launched a career that has moved through private firms, bar governance and teaching roles.
Early in his practice he joined Hodges, Doughty & Carson as a partner in 1998. Over the next decade he shifted between firm work and service to the profession. In 2007 he served as an assistant law examiner for the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners, a role that involved credential review and examination administration. Courtroom work and firm leadership followed, including positions at Gribble, Carpenter & Associates in 2011 and as managing partner at Edmiston Foster beginning in 2015.
His practice expanded beyond firm leadership. He earned a certification in FDCPA and Regulation F through Collection Certifications, LLC and joined professional groups such as the Tennessee Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute in 2015. He also holds memberships dating back to 1997 in another professional organization. These affiliations reflect steady engagement with bankruptcy, collections and consumer-credit matters.
Edmiston has combined practice with teaching. In 2020 he worked as a bar exam instructor and tutor for programs including BarBri, Themis and Bar Max. He later served as an adjunct faculty member at Campbell University in 2022. Those roles kept him connected to law students and new attorneys while he continued handling cases and managing firm operations.
He is admitted to practice in Tennessee and has litigation experience in the federal system, including appearances before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the 4th Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Tennessee. That mix of state and federal admissions supports work that spans bankruptcy, collection defense and creditor representation, as well as appellate matters when they arise.
In 2024 he joined Clark & Washington as a lawyer. He continues to balance litigation and counseling for clients, and he remains involved in legal education and professional groups. He currently practices at Clark & Washington, handling consumer and creditor collection matters, bankruptcy-related work and litigation in both federal and state courts.
