About John David
John David Haines earned his law degree from Lincoln Memorial University’s John J. Duncan, Jr. School of Law in 2018. He graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in French. Those academic years bookend a shift from enlisted service to the practice of law.
Before entering law school, Haines served in the United States Navy. He held the rank of Petty Officer Second Class in 2008. The service experience preceded his move into higher education and later legal training.
After completing his J.D. in 2018, Haines began his legal career at Tarpy, Cox, Fleishman & Leveille. The position marked his first role in private practice after law school. In 2020 he joined McKeehan Law Group, where he continued to develop practical skills and courtroom familiarity. Those early years offered steady exposure to client work and firm operations.
In 2022 Haines established The Haines Firm, PLLC. He practices in Tennessee and has built his practice from that base. The firm listing shows him as a lawyer there beginning in 2022. Over successive roles he has moved from associate positions to running his own office.
Haines holds active memberships in professional organizations, including the Knoxville Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He remains involved in the local bar community in Knoxville. His background combines military service, regional education, and consecutive roles at established law offices before founding his own firm.
Colleagues and clients describe him as steady and practical. He approaches matters with attention to detail and a preference for clear communication. Outside the office he has a foundation in languages from his undergraduate work in French. That training contributes to how he frames arguments and drafts documents.
He continues to accept matters in Tennessee and manages matters from his firm’s offices. His current practice addresses legal needs for clients in Tennessee and the surrounding community.
