About Keith

Keith Durden built the foundation of his legal career at two very different campuses. He earned a B.A. in economics and political science from Northeastern University in 1993 and went on to receive his J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School in 1999. Those years shaped his thinking about law, policy and practice.

He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts. Early work after law school took him into settings where courtroom skills mattered and client contact was constant. Over time he gravitated toward criminal defense and public-service roles, where advocacy and procedural knowledge intersect.

Durden holds a criminal defense certification from the Committee for Public Counsel Services. That credential aligns with his long-standing ties to public defense systems and panels that supply representation to people charged with crimes. He has combined casework on behalf of individual clients with work that plugs into larger public-defense networks.

Since 2002 he has served as a panel lawyer for the Volunteer Lawyers Project. That role has kept him plugged into pro bono and reduced-fee work arranged through legal aid channels. He also maintains membership in the Boston Bar Association, where he participates in sections and programs that connect private practitioners, public defenders and legal volunteers.

His courtroom approach is straightforward. He prepares cases to answer the practical questions judges and juries will ask. He addresses evidence, procedure and client needs. He moves between motions, plea discussions and, when needed, trials. People who work with him say he is direct in court and careful in preparing paperwork and strategy.

Durden’s practice blends individual client work and systemic public-defense engagement. He handles criminal defense matters in Massachusetts courts and takes cases that range across different stages of the criminal process. He has continued to take panel assignments and volunteer matters alongside any other caseload he carries.

Clients, colleagues and referral sources see him as a steady presence in criminal defense circles in Boston and beyond. He remains active in bar activities and volunteer programs that aim to expand access to counsel. He currently practices in Massachusetts, concentrating on criminal defense and related legal matters.
