About Kathryn
Kathryn Hilbush began her academic path at Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a B.A. in political science. She moved on to the University of Baltimore School of Law and completed her J.D. there. Those years set the groundwork for a long career in family law in Pennsylvania.
Her early work in private practice dates back to the late 1980s. In 1987 she was listed as a lawyer at Fronefield & deFuria. A few years later she launched her own practice. In 1994 she opened the Law Office of Kathryn L. Hilbush and has maintained a presence in the community since then. The transition to a solo office gave her a platform to manage cases from intake through resolution.
Hilbush holds a mediation certification from the Center for Resolutions. She has used that training in and out of the courtroom. Mediation skills have informed how she approaches negotiations and settlement discussions, and she has been involved in alternative dispute resolution in family law matters.
She has been active in professional organizations throughout her career. She maintains current memberships in the Pennsylvania State Bar and the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Family Law Section. At the county level she has been part of the Delaware County Bar Association for many years. Her service there includes a term on the Board of Directors from 2007 to 2008, chairing the Family Law Rules Committee from 2004 to 2015, serving as Chairperson of the Family Law Section in 2004, and leading the Family Law Section Divorce Subcommittee beginning in 2017 and continuing to the present. Those roles placed her in regular contact with judges, peers, and local court administrators.
Colleagues describe her as practical in litigation and persistent in negotiation. She handles the procedural and evidentiary tasks a family law case requires, while also preparing for trials when settlement is not an option. Her practice reflects long-standing work in custody, support, divorce, and related family matters.
She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and continues to work in the state. Her current practice focuses on family law matters in Pennsylvania.
