About Kathryn Flowers
Kathryn Flowers Samler built a legal path that began in Texas classrooms and moved quickly into courtroom work. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications from Baylor University in 2004. Three years later she received her J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law. Those years laid the groundwork for a practice concentrated in family law.
She entered practice as an associate at Underwood Perkins, P.C. in 2007. Early on she handled the routine and the complex aspects of family litigation. She developed skills in negotiation, client counseling, and trial preparation. In 2013 she joined Goranson Bain Ausley, PLLC as a partner in the firm’s family law practice, a role she holds today.
Samler is board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. That credential reflects years of focused work and longer engagement with the procedural and substantive issues that arise in divorce, custody, support, and property division disputes. Board certification in Texas requires specific experience and testing that separates general practice from practiced specialization.
Her involvement in the legal community extends beyond the office. She is a member of the Collin County Bar Association and the Collin County Young Lawyers Association. She also holds memberships in the Dallas Bar Association’s Family Law Section, the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section, and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. Locally she takes part in the Annette Stewart American Inn of Court as an associate member. Those memberships keep her connected to peers and current developments in family law practice.
Colleagues describe Samler as methodical in case preparation and direct in court. She approaches client matters by mapping out options, explaining trade-offs, and setting realistic timelines. She has frequently handled contested hearings and negotiated settlements in both contested and uncontested matters. Her work includes pretrial motion practice, trial advocacy, and post-judgment modifications.
Outside of litigation she spends time mentoring younger lawyers and participates in continuing legal education that relates to family law developments. That engagement informs daily practice and courtroom strategy. She maintains an active trial calendar while advising clients on alternatives to litigation when circumstances allow.
Samler practices law in Texas and is based at Goranson Bain Ausley, PLLC. Her current practice focuses on family law matters.
