About Katherine Schnauss

Katherine Schnauss Naugle entered law after an academic path that combined history and business. She earned a B.A. in history from Emory University in 1998 and returned to school at Stetson University, where she completed an M.B.A. and a J.D. in 2001. The dual graduate degrees gave her both the legal training and a business perspective early in her career.

She began practicing law in 2001 at the firm Ford, Bowlus, Duss, Morgan, Kenney, Safer & Hampton, P.A. That first position provided courtroom exposure and day-to-day case handling that shaped her approach to client matters. Over time she took on roles in smaller firms, joining League & Naugle, P.L. and then serving as partner at Naugle & Smith, P.L. in 2008. Those years on both sides of firm management informed how she balances client service with the practical demands of running a practice.

In 2013 she opened her own firm, Schnauss Naugle Law, P.L. She has held the title of lawyer and owner there since its founding. Running a solo or small firm has required attention to both the legal work and the administrative responsibilities that keep a practice responsive to client needs. Her background in business management has been part of that mix.

Her admissions include the State of Florida and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, enabling her to represent clients in both state and federal forums. She maintains memberships in professional and community organizations that reflect a range of civic and practice interests. Those include the Florida Bar and Jacksonville Bar Association, the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association, the Woman’s Club of Jacksonville, and the National Academy of Elder Law Lawyers.

Membership in the National Academy of Elder Law Lawyers places her among peers who address issues affecting older adults and their families. She is also active in local bar and civic groups in Jacksonville, which she has used as a platform for professional networking and community engagement. Colleagues describe her as pragmatic in the courtroom and attentive in client meetings.

Clients and peers see a lawyer who combines formal legal training with business planning sensibilities. She draws on both degrees when assessing cases, organizing client matters, and handling the administrative side of practice. Her career path shows steady movement from associate roles into partnership and ownership.

She maintains an active practice at Schnauss Naugle Law, P.L., representing clients in matters in Florida and in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
