About Kate
Kate Dunnington entered the practice of law after earning her J.D. from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 2015. She graduated into a practice environment that values both courtroom work and the technical demands of modern litigation. Early on she balanced those demands, mixing traditional plaintiff litigation with intensive electronic discovery tasks.
Her career has included roles at Bubalo Law PLC and Becker Law PLC. At those firms she worked as an attorney and later took on management responsibilities. Her title has included Assistant Managing Partner, a role that put her into the daily management of case teams and firm operations while she continued to try cases and handle client matters.
Dunnington has developed a particular competency around e-discovery. She holds the Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS) credential from the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists. That certification reflects additional training in the process of preserving, collecting and producing electronic evidence. She is also a member of The Sedona Conference working group on electronic document retention and production, which gathers practitioners and judges to address practical issues that arise in electronic discovery.
Her professional memberships extend into plaintiff-side and local legal organizations. She belongs to the American Association for Justice and serves on the board of the Kentucky Justice Association. She is also active in the Women Lawyers Association. Those memberships have placed her in committees and working groups that address trial strategy, practice rules and access to the courts.
Dunnington is licensed to practice in Kentucky and Indiana. She has handled a range of personal injury and civil litigation matters, balancing client-facing work in the courtroom with attention to case management and discovery problems. Colleagues describe her as methodical and practical in the way she prepares cases and organizes electronic materials for trial.
She practices at Becker Law Office Injury Lawyers, where she works out of multiple offices including the Dixie Highway, Lexington and Florence locations. Her work combines trial preparation, client counseling, and supervising the technical aspects of document handling and production. She currently handles personal injury litigation and oversees e-discovery processes at her firm.
