About Corey

Corey Gagnon studied English literature before turning to the law. He earned a B.A. at Middlebury College and an M.A. at the University of New Hampshire, both in English literature. He later completed a J.D. at Emory University School of Law. That combination of literary training and legal education shapes how he approaches cases and the written work that accompanies them.

After law school Gagnon moved into practice in Kentucky. He is listed as a lawyer at Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers and works on matters that fall under the firm’s injury law practice. He represents clients in personal injury matters and assists them through claims processes and litigation where necessary. His work involves written advocacy, evidence review, and client counseling.

Gagnon’s academic background in literature informs his approach to legal writing. He treats pleadings and briefs as documents that must be clear, precise and persuasive. Colleagues say he pays attention to narrative detail and to the structure of an argument. That attention to language can be an asset when preparing complex filings or explaining legal options to clients.

He maintains memberships in professional associations relevant to the practice of law. Those affiliations connect him to continuing education and to other lawyers who handle injury claims. He has practiced under the licensing and ethical rules that govern lawyers in Kentucky.

Within the firm, Gagnon is part of a team that handles injury claims across a range of circumstances. He spends time preparing cases for trial as well as negotiating settlements when that is in a client’s interest. His responsibilities include interviewing clients, gathering records, coordinating with experts and drafting litigation documents.

Outside of casework he has continued to rely on the analytical habits developed during graduate study in literature. He brings the same attention to detail to factual investigation as he does to legal writing. The result is a methodical approach to case preparation and client communication. He currently practices personal injury law at Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers.
