About Kaitlin
Kaitlin Foley began her path to the law in upstate New York. She completed a B.A. in psychology at the State University of New York at Albany in 2012. Four years later she earned her J.D. from Albany Law School, graduating in 2016.
Her early legal training included several internships and clerkships in both public and private settings. In 2014 she served as a judicial intern in the chambers of the Honorable Randolph F. Treece, a United States federal magistrate judge. That same year she worked in the Health Care Bureau of the Office of the New York State Attorney General. The following year she held positions as a legal intern with the School Administrators Association of New York State and as a law clerk at Kahn & Richardson.
After law school Foley moved into roles that combined practice and teaching. In 2017 she joined Empire Education as an adjunct professor. She also became a member of the New York State Bar Association that year and remains a member. Those steps came as she began to take on more responsibility in private practice.
Foley now serves as the managing lawyer at The Colwell Law Group, LLC. In that position she oversees day-to-day operations while handling client matters for the firm. Her background includes exposure to both government-side legal work and private firm practice through internships and clerkships completed before and just after law school.
Colleagues describe Foley as methodical in her approach to case preparation and practice management. She has experience working inside a state attorney general’s office and in federal judicial chambers. Those roles shaped her early perspective on litigation processes and agency practice, and they inform her work at The Colwell Law Group.
She is admitted to practice in New York and maintains professional involvement through the New York State Bar Association. Foley balances practice responsibilities with administrative tasks at the firm and occasional academic work. She practices law in New York as the managing lawyer at The Colwell Law Group, LLC.
