About Justina

Justina Doss earned her law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law, completing her J.D. in 2009. She came of age as an attorney at a time when bankruptcy law was seeing notable shifts in consumer and commercial filings. The timing of her graduation placed her at the center of practical changes to the field.

Her early years after law school involved learning the mechanics of insolvency practice. She trained in courtroom procedure, claims administration and creditor-debtor negotiations. That practical grounding informed how she approaches each file: methodical, attentive to deadlines and attentive to client needs. Those formative experiences helped her transition from a new graduate into a lawyer who handles the technical and human sides of bankruptcy.

Over the course of her work she has handled an array of matters in the bankruptcy arena. She has worked on cases involving Chapter 7, Chapter 13 and business reorganizations. Her work requires balancing statutory requirements, local rules and the expectations of trustees and creditors. She spends time preparing schedules and motions, negotiating with opposing parties and presenting matters at hearings. The work is procedural and often detail-heavy; she treats it that way.

Doss maintains current membership in professional associations related to the practice of law. She uses those memberships as a way to stay current on changes in bankruptcy rules, recent case law and evolving local practices. Staying plugged into a network of lawyers and judges helps inform how she prepares cases and advises clients.

Her practice has involved both consumer debt restructurings and business insolvency matters. She represents individuals seeking relief from unsecured debt and small business owners exploring reorganization options. Her files often require analysis of cash flow, creditor claims and feasible repayment plans. She aims to present options clearly so clients can make informed decisions about bankruptcy or alternative paths.

Outside of the courtroom, she balances the demands of a litigation-heavy practice by attending continuing legal education and by keeping up with developments in bankruptcy procedure and precedent. That routine of continuing education is part of how she manages the evolving landscape of insolvency law.

She currently practices as a bankruptcy lawyer, advising individual and business clients on bankruptcy filings, reorganizations and related proceedings.
