About Wakisha
Wakisha Hazzard has built a legal career that moves from public service into private practice. She earned her undergraduate degree in 2000 and returned to law school six years later. The trajectory is straightforward and intentional.
Hazzard completed a Bachelor of Science in political science at Georgia Southern University in 2000, where she also studied English and fashion merchandising. She took law school at Miles Law School and received her J.D. in 2006. Those years laid a foundation in both analytical thinking and written communication.
Her early professional experience began in the public sector. In 2007 she served as a law clerk for the State of Alabama. That role exposed her to court procedures and state legal processes. A few years later she joined Marsh, Rickard & Bryan, P.C. in 2010 and worked there in the legal profession before moving toward private practice.
In 2012 she opened The Hazzard Law Office, LLC. Founding the firm marked a shift to a small-firm model. Hazzard handled a range of daily tasks that come with running a solo or small firm: client intake, case preparation, court filings and hearings, and business administration. The move also aligned with memberships she maintains in local bar organizations.
Hazzard holds current memberships in the Birmingham Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section and Solo Small Firm Section, and she is a member of the Magic City Bar Association. Those affiliations reflect ongoing participation in local professional networks and an interest in issues that affect small practices and early-career attorneys.
Her work draws on courtroom exposure from clerkship and hands-on practice from private employment to advise clients and represent them in filings and hearings. She combines procedural familiarity with the practical demands of a small practice. Hazzard practices in Alabama and has spent more than a decade shaping her own office’s approach to client service.
Her current practice focuses on serving individuals and small businesses in Alabama through The Hazzard Law Office, LLC.
