About Justin P.
Justin P. Miller built his path to the law through a mix of classrooms and courtrooms. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics and English from Juniata College in 2002 and completed his J.D. at Michigan State University College of Law in 2007. Those years set the groundwork for a career that has kept him close to the bench and the defense table.
Miller began his legal career as a judicial law clerk at the Centre County Court of Common Pleas in 2007. The clerkship exposed him to trial procedure, case management and written opinions. He moved from the court to public defense work in 2010, joining the Centre County Public Defender Office as an assistant public defender. That role placed him in court regularly and required handling a steady flow of contested matters. In 2013 he opened his own practice and has served as owner and principal of the Law Office of Justin P. Miller since then.
Alongside his practice, Miller has remained active in legal and community organizations. He holds membership in the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Centre County Bar Association, and he has been an associate of the Wilkinson-Campbell American Inn of Court since 2007. He chaired the Centre County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division from 2010 to 2012. Outside the bar, he joined the board of the Centre County Library and Historical Museum as a trustee in 2014 and continues in that position.
The arc of Miller’s experience ties together courtroom procedure, client advocacy and local legal institutions. His early years clerking for the county court gave him an early view of judicial decision-making and the mechanics of trial dockets. His time as an assistant public defender required daily courtroom work and direct client representation, sharpening skills in plea negotiations, motion practice and contested hearings. Running a private practice since 2013 has added case management, client intake and independent trial preparation to the mix.
Colleagues describe him as steady at the courtroom lectern and deliberate in written work. He has remained engaged in the Centre County legal community through the Inn of Court and county bar activities. He operates the Law Office of Justin P. Miller and maintains a private practice handling criminal matters and related courtroom representation.
