About Justin C.
Justin C. Carlin earned his Juris Doctor from Florida International University College of Law in 2009, where he studied business law and participated in trial advocacy coursework. His time in law school included practical training that prepared him for courtroom work and business-related legal matters. Prior academic details before law school are not listed here.
After passing the bar, Carlin established a practice in Florida and also gained admission to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He has worked on matters that reach both state and federal forums. Early in his career he handled courtroom preparation and civil litigation tasks that built toward managing cases from complaint to resolution.
Carlin’s legal experience centers on civil litigation. He has taken depositions, drafted pleadings and motions, and handled evidentiary hearings. The trial advocacy training he received at FIU shows in his courtroom approach; he is comfortable presenting arguments to judges and juries and in conducting contested hearings. Cases he has handled reflect typical litigation rhythms: discovery battles, motion practice, settlement negotiations and, when necessary, trials.
In federal matters he has appeared in proceedings that require attention to procedure and appellate rules. Admission to the Eleventh Circuit allows him to brief appeals and represent clients on post-judgment issues that arise after trial. He balances trial work and appellate responsibilities by sequencing filings, preparing targeted briefs and keeping close deadlines.
Outside litigation, Carlin’s business law background has informed his representation of small businesses and individual owners. He advises on contract disputes, business torts and related litigation risk. That combination of trial skills and business law training gives him a practical perspective when assessing whether a case should settle or move forward to trial.
He practices at The Carlin Law Office, PLLC. His work covers civil litigation in Florida state courts and federal courts in the Eleventh Circuit. He currently handles litigation, evidentiary hearings and appeals as part of his practice focus.
